When Glyn Wilkinson joined Proactive Despatch as Resource Manager, it did not take long for his colleagues to give him a new identity: “Glyn Diesel” or “GD” for short.
Inspired by action star Vin Diesel, the nickname reflects Glyn’s go-getting attitude and his determination to get the job done. However, for Glyn, it means much more than a light-hearted play on words.
“Growing up, all my friends had cool nicknames except me,” Glyn explained. “My name just didn’t seem to lend itself to one, and it was the same throughout my adult life until I met the Proactive team.
“Within days of joining the company, I had a nickname and ‘Glyn Diesel’ was born. It made me feel part of the team, and it still makes me smile today. It might not be newsworthy to others, but to me, it means the world.”
